Want to take a stand against human trafficking? North Lake College is hosting Walk For Freedom, A21‘s 5th annual awareness and fundraising event, on October 20 at 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. The global event will rally tens of thousands of people in various locations around the world to abolish modern-day slavery on the same day, and NLC is the only walk in Dallas County!
Walk For Freedom is operated by the global anti-trafficking organization, A21. Participants all around the world will dress in all black and walk in single-file lines for the millions of men, women, and children who are still trapped in slavery today.
Admission is free, but donations of any size are welcomed and appreciated to achieve the $5,000 fundraising goal for the Irving walk location. Participants are required to register online. To register and donate, visit a21.org/irving.
Students enrolled in classes with required community service hours can volunteer at the event to receive service hours. To sign up to volunteer or for more information about the walk, email Jessica Estrada at jcestrada@dcccd.edu. For general questions about A21, visit a21.org or email info@a21.org.
*In case of inclement weather, the walk will be canceled. Participants will be notified by email.
