The North Lake College Blazers baseball team successfully clinched the Dallas Athletic Conference championship with a 4-3 win against Brookhaven College on April 27. The Blazers are 21-6 in conference play with two games remaining against Mountain View. (View the full season schedule.)
The Blazers have been ranked in the national top 10 all season long in NJCAA Division III, and the season’s highlights included a remarkable 12-game winning streak in conference play and the 300th career win for head coach Corey Mercer. Now Coach Mercer and the Blazers get to take their championship team to the playoffs, building up to the District C championships on May 16-18 and, if they take home the district championship, the NJCAA Division III World Series on May May 25-30 in Greeneville, TN.
This is NLC’s first outright baseball conference championship since 1994. NLC tied for co-champions in 2013.
