[…] Dr. Yolanda Romero passed away on August 3, 2016, after 26 years serving North Lake College students. We’re reposting this […]
I started North Lake College in the early 1990’s. Dr. Romero was my history teacher for 2 semesters. I was a single mother with a small child and would get discouraged at finishing school. She told me her story and the hardships she endured and told me to never give up. Because of her encouragement, I became a school teacher and have now taught 16 years. She was my son’s adviser for PTK at North Lake College. I am heart broken to hear of this news and my prayers go out to the family. She was a special lady who loved her students and the North Lake family. I will never forget her.
SHE DESERVES THE TITLE OF SILENT HERO AND RECEIVE THE AZTECA AWARD benefiting EDUCATION…. DCET will honor this wonderful lady for sure! http://www.dcenti.org/silent-hero-azteca-awards
