NLC Welcomes National Organization, Truth
North Lake College (NLC) recently received a grant from the Truth Initiative organization to endorse and advocate a smoke-free campus by enlisting five percent of the student population, which is approximately 544 students. In 2003, there was only one smoke-free college campus nationwide, but in 2018, there are 1,475 smoke-free campuses, and we want NLC to join this growing list of those campuses! The Truth Initiative was established in 1998 as part of a Master Settlement Agreement between major U.S. tobacco companies and 46 states, the District Columbia and five territories. For the next 10 weeks (February 19-April 27), we challenge you to stay physically active at least 4 days a week by participating in a variety of activities (for every fitness level) including dance, aerobics, yoga, basketball, nature walks and more, right here on campus.
