Absolutely! There are several ways NLC students can get help paying for their classes:

Financial Aid

If you need help paying for college, many funding sources are available including grants, scholarships, work-study programs and student loans. The Financial Aid Office staff can help you complete required forms, explain eligibility requirements and provide deadlines for application.

Financial Assistance for Continuing Education

Texas Public Education Grants (TPEGs), for tuition only, are available to individuals to take career or occupation-related courses. Up to $500 per semester is available to continuing education students based on need. TPEG can be applied to career and occupational courses such as computer, business, management and ESL. Eligibility is determined by review of the student application for Financial Aid.

Payment Plans

A Pay Plan allows you to pay your tuition for credit courses in installments. It may be set up in person at the cashier or online through eConnect. You may choose to pay tuition in installments only during the fall and spring semesters.

Veterans Affairs (VA) Benefits

The Financial Aid Office can help you complete forms, explain eligibility requirements and help you meet important deadlines. You may also receive advice and information from the college Veterans Affairs Office located on the Central Campus in room A430, phone, 972-273-3169. North Lake’s VA Office offers individual academic advisement, registration, degree planning, course certification for VA benefits, and referrals for campus and community resources.

Senior Tuition Waiver for those over 65

You may be eligible for the senior tuition waiver. If you are 65 years old, a legal resident of Texas, and living in Dallas County, you can take up to six hours of college credit courses each semester FREE. You pay for your books and any special fees.
