This session will focus on an open discussion of equity and social justice issues with a diverse panel of faculty, staff and administrators. We will also review the continuing research on Social Justice attitudes among our students. The audience are encouraged to join in the discussion.

Resiliency in the Face of the Uncertainty

This session will provide an update on resilient and social justice initiatives across the DCCCD and North Texas region, with a particular focus on examples of individuals and communities that have tapped their capacities to recover quickly from a difficult natural disaster, life event or circumstance. Attendees will be able to share personal experiences and participate in a group activity to help identify campus themes of social justice and sustainability, food and health, and accessibility of public resources.

Blazer Common Book: The Final Three

All NLC faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to learn more about the finalists for the 2018 – 2019 Blazer Common Book. Participants will be asked to provide their input regarding which of these books has the strongest potential to build a community of readers and to generate meaningful discussions across the campus. Additionally, participants will offer suggestions regarding the types of activities related to the common book that would be of greatest interest to the NLC community. All college employees are welcome and encouraged to attend and weigh in on the final decision.
